Juventus is set to sell unwanted right wing back Stephan Lichtsteiner in the January transfer window, Goal Italy reports.

The Switzerland international, 32, has fallen behind summer arrivals Dani Alves and Juan Cuadrado in the pecking order.

Lichtsteiner, whose contract runs out in June, will only be sold to a club outside of Serie A because the reigning Italian champions are wary of strengthening a rival.

The Bianconeri turned down an approach from Inter during the summer when it became clear that Lichtsteiner wouldn't be a key player in Massimiliano Allegri's 2016-17 team.

Barcelona is regularly linked to Lichtsteiner by Italian and Spanish media outlets, and Juventus won't stand in the Catalans' way if they approach him for a winter window move.

Lichtsteiner is unhappy at having become an afterthought in Turin, having only made three appearances in all competitions so far this campaign.

Having not been named in Juve's Champions League squad, he could feature in the knockout stage of the competition should one of Europe's elite sign him.

If Juventus fails to sell Lichtsteiner and he chooses not to renew his contract — which is almost guaranteed — the club will have to pay the former Lazio and Lille defender a penalty fee.
