Chelsea’s fine form throughout October, which saw the side collect four successive victories without conceding a goal, has been rewarded with three nominees on the Premier League Player of the Month shortlist.

N’Golo Kante, Eden Hazard and Diego Costa are all in the running - with Hazard and Costa netting three goals apiece, while Kante continued to dominate midfield and opened his Blues account with a fine finish in a 4-0 mauling of Manchester United.

Table-topping Manchester City is also recognised, with Ilkay Gundogan playing himself into form towards the end of the month, while Liverpool – which sits alongside City at the summit - will be hoping to see Philippe Countinho walk away with the award.

Arsenal, the other side on 23 points, has been surprisingly overlooked – despite being unbeaten since August – but Arsene Wenger may feel that is a reflection of his side working well as a collective, rather than relying on certain individuals.

Elsewhere, Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton – who rounded off October with an inspired showing at Old Trafford against Manchester United – and Stoke midfielder Joe Allen – who has enjoyed a remarkable goal-scoring run of late – complete the runners and riders.

Due to the upcoming international break, the winner of the monthly prize will be announced on Friday Nov. 18.
