Harry Kane is determined to follow in the footsteps of Cristiano Ronaldo as he prepares for England’s upcoming Nations League match against Ireland.
After a challenging Euro 2024, the England captain is now focusing on prolonging his career and staying in top form, just like Ronaldo has done in his late thirties.
The Tottenham legend, now with Bayern Munich, has already kicked off the Bundesliga season on a high note, netting a goal against Freiburg.
But his real inspiration comes from Ronaldo, who recently scored his 900th career goal at the age of 39. Kane is eager to match the longevity and success that the Portuguese star has enjoyed.

Kane's motivation to emulate Ronaldo
Kane, who turns 31 this year, has made it clear that Ronaldo is the standard he wants to reach. He spoke openly about his admiration for the former Real Madrid star’s ability to stay at the top for so long.
“Cristiano is the benchmark, not only being one of the best footballers ever but also the benchmark of how long you can play for at a higher level. I feel in a really good place, both physically and mentally," Kane said.
"The Ronaldos, the Messis, the Benzemas, the Lewandowskis, almost upped their level as they got into their mid-thirties. Cristiano is showing that every week, so from my point of view, that’s the aim.”
As Kane inches closer to his 100th England cap, he hopes to lead the team to a positive result against Ireland and continue his scoring run.
After the international break, Kane will refocus on his club, aiming to help Bayern Munich reclaim the Bundesliga title and add more goals to his already impressive tally.
