The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has been tasked with the role of monitoring footballers, team officials and referees in the country by the Malaysian FA (FAM), announced the agency on Friday.
This came following a meeting between MACC and FAM president Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim on Thursday.
"MACC will carry out and fully support the Crown Prince of Johor (Tunku Ismail's) instructions in order to make sure that footballers, referees and team officials are free from corruption and misuse of power," the statement went.
FAM has also submitted the details of footballers, referees and team officials in the country to MACC, so that they can be observed by the agency.
"During the meeting, MACC has also accepted a list containing the names and details of Malaysian footballers, referees, and team officials including those who serve FAM, so they can be monitored," issued MACC.
Earlier this month, the issue of match-fixing emerged again in Malaysian football, when three Premier League side MISC-MIFA players and a former Malaysia international were arrested by MACC on suspicion of match-fixing.
