Gold Cup bracket, schedule 2023: Mexico set to take on Panama in CONCACAF tournament final image

The CONCACAF Gold Cup is back for another edition in 2023, as the best national team in North America is crowned.

The 2023 Gold Cup tournament has once again played out mostly in the United States, but the host nation will not be able to defend its title after falling on penalty kicks to Panama in the semifinals.

Held every two years, the Gold Cup crowns a continental champion among the 41 member nations of the Confederation of North, Central America & Caribbean Association Football — 'CONCACAF' for short. The Gold Cup is the equivalent of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), the Euros, and the Copa America which involves the 10 nations in South America.

Only 15 of the 41 nations in CONCACAF plus a guest nation (Qatar) qualified for the 2023 Gold Cup, which started out with a group stage followed by knockout rounds, similar to other soccer tournaments around the globe. The 16 teams were cut down to just eight for the knockout rounds, and a single-elimination knockout bracket will determine the next continental champion.

2023 Gold Cup bracket (knockout rounds)

With the group stage completed, the knockout stage bracket was officially filled out.

The top two finishers in each group earned a spot in the quarterfinals. Next, the entire knockout portion of the bracket is single elimination with a winner required after every game (extra time and, if necessary, penalty kicks will be used in case of a draw after 90 minutes).

The USA and Mexico will not meet in this competition. They could have only met in a potential final, but Panama ousted the Americans in the semifinals on penalty kicks.
