Goalkeeper
Brad Guzan (3 1/2 stars): Made some key saves early and couldn't be blamed for the Honduras goal. Looked awkward a few times on clearances but didn't make a mistake.
Defenders
Fabian Johnson (2 1/2 stars): Took awhile to find his way into the game, though he should have had an assist on a great Yedlin chance. Got caught upfield a few times, leaving Zardes and Brooks on their own.
Timmy Chandler (2 stars): Had his hands full with Andy Najar and did all right defensively, but his offensive game, normally a bright spot, let him down with multiple misplaced balls. Subbed off for Brad Evans.
John Brooks (1 1/2 stars): Was brutalized by Anthony Lozano in the first half. Was pulled out of position on the Honduras goal, creating the space for Carlos Discua to charge through. Simply awful night.
Ventura Alvarado (2 stars): Was left out to dry by Brooks on the goal, but his weak challenge did him no favors. Overall a shaky outing on the night he became cap-tied to the U.S.
Midfielders
DeAndre Yedlin (2 1/2 stars): His pace was dangerous, though he, like everyone on the U.S. right, struggled with Najar. Brilliant run to set up a one-on-one vs. Honduras keeper Donis Escober but was unable to finish.
Kyle Beckerman (3 stars): Made multiple key headers in the first half, providing a strong shield for a shaky back line. Seemed to tire a bit in the second half.
Michael Bradley (4 stars): Not a banner night for the captain in his 100th cap, but he delivered three excellent balls — two resulted in goals and one was saved off the line.
Gyasi Zardes (2 stars): Normally a forward, Zardes struggled with instincts in the midfield. Used his pace and physicality better in the second half, but not a great outing overall.
Forwards
Clint Dempsey (4 stars): Was in the right place at the right time for his first, but to his credit delivered a powerful headed finish. Another good header gave Dempsey a much-deserved brace.
Jozy Altidore (2 1/2 stars): Good hold-up play, but the final ball was lacking and his first touch often let him down. A well-placed shot did lead to the U.S. goal, but more will be expected going forward. Went off for Wondolowski.
Substitutes
Brad Evans (3 stars): Looked the soundest defensively of anyone who played on the U.S. back line, with a goal-saving tackle in the 76th minute. Made a case to start over Chandler against Haiti.
Graham Zusi (2 stars): Made a few touches upon coming on for Zardes late but made a terrible decision on a back pass late that led to a golden chance for Honduras at the death.
Chris Wondolowski (2 stars): A couple of nice efforts but offered little in actual production upon coming on for Altidore.
