One of the most promising youngsters in the U.S. player pool, Gio Reyna has blossomed into a dangerous and versatile attacker at Borussia Dortmund.

The 20-year-old has had an injury-plagued past few seasons as he develops into a consistent starter for the Bundesliga giants, most recently suffering a leg fracture on international duty over the summer, which delayed the start of his season.

Yet with Reyna now fit for the time being, his return to play has given U.S. fans excitement for his continued growth into a key contributor for both club and country. He is likely to see plenty of involvement for BVB, too, if they continue in the Champions League while attempting to sustain a title challenge in the Bundesliga.

The Sporting News is keeping a close eye on Reyna's season at Dortmund while he continues to regain his fitness and spend increased time on the pitch.

Having only just returned from his leg fracture, Reyna has yet to score for Borussia Dortmund this season.

Reyna's last goal for his club came on May 13, 2023 in a 5-2 win over Borussia Monchengladbach. That was part of an eight-game unbeaten run for Dortmund to end the season, with Reyna providing significant contribution off the bench, scoring twice and assisting two more in that span, all as a substitute.

Reyna has, however, scored for the U.S. national team recently, bagging his first-ever international brace against Ghana in mid-October in a 4-0 win for the USMNT.
