Birmingham City manager Gianfranco Zola has confirmed that defender Jonathan Spector will leave the club and move to Major League Soccer.
Spector, 30, has six months remaining on his contract and the Championship club will allow him to leave early and join a team before the 2017 MLS season begins.
"I am a little bit disappointed and sad that Joanthan Spector will be leaving us," Zola said in quotes published in the Birmingham Mail. "He deserves that. He's going to go home and I wish him all the best."

The American defender joined Birmingham City in 2011 and has gone on to make 179 appearances for the Blues. He is currently the club's longest-serving player.
Spector began his professional career with Manchester United in 2003. He played in three games with the Red Devils before joining West Ham, where he made 101 appearances.
This will be the first time the Chicago area native has played in MLS.
