Germany vs. Hungary confirmed lineups, starting 11, team news: Wirtz, Musiala ready to shine again at Euro 2024 image

Germany showed no sign of opening night nerves at Euro 2024 as they dismantled Scotland 5-1 in Munich.

Julian Nagelsmann's side will seek to build upon the swaggering goalscoring performances laid down by rising stars Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz when they entertain Hungary in Stuttgart on Wednesday.

Despite an enterprising second-half showing, Marco Rossi's side ultimately paid the price for being overrun before the break against Switzerland in Cologne and went down to a 3-1 loss.

However, Hungary are unbeaten in three against Germany and have proved to be a thorn in the side of their illustrious opponents over recent years.

Die Mannschaft needed a late Leon Goretzka equaliser to snatch a 2-2 draw and avoid group-stage elimination at Euro 2020. In the subsequent Nations League campaign, the sides played out a 1-1 draw in Budapest before veteran striker Adam Szalai scored the only goal in a famous win for Rossi's men in Leipzig.

It proved to be Szalai's 26th and final goal for Hungary before he retired from international football, meaning his nation needs a new hero for this latest crack at Germany.

With his team close to securing qualification, Nagelsmann stuck with the same XI that took Scotland apart.

Niclas Fullkrug performed well as a substitute and scored Germany's fourth goal in Munich, but Kai Havertz continues at centre-forward having got in on the act himself from the penalty spot.

Injured: None

Hungary boss Marco Rossi brought in Bendeguz Bolla at right wing-back for Attila Fiola.

Le Havre defender Loic Nego, and Parma's Botond Balogh, are still recovering from injuries suffered prior to the tournament. They did not train with the team on Tuesday and will not be ready to face Germany.

Hertha Berlin's Marton Dardai took part in the session and returns to the back three.
