Defending NCAA women's soccer national champions Florida State have begun the 2024 regular season in explosive fashion, as the No. 1 ranked Seminoles get set to take on Rice on Thursday.

FSU have won four national titles in the last decade, as their recent rise to becoming a powerhouse has seen a host of players move on to become professional or national team stars. They have started their new season with a flourish, downing USF and North Florida by a combined 15-0 to sit at 2-0 on the young campaign.

The ACC remains the toughest soccer conference in the country on both the men's and women's side. Aside from the top-ranked team in the nation, the ACC boasts No. 5 Clemson, No. 7 Pitt, and No. 8 UNC just in the top 10, plus the new addition of Stanford who are ranked No. 2 in the nation.

Rice hail from the American conference and were picked to finish fourth in the West division by the preseason poll. They have already begun their season, with in-conference wins over Texas State and Navy both by 2-1 scores at home.
