France are through to a blockbuster semifinal after defeating a Uruguayan side that had just shown how dominant they could be just one round earlier.
Edinson Cavani's injury was enough to stifle Uruguay's attack so that Luis Suarez was essentially on an island for the whole game. The French defense did their best to smother the Barcelona striker as his feeds from all over the pitch always seemed to be off target. As a result, he did not have a single shot for the game.

For France, it's a sign that they don't need to come out firing to win in this tournament. This game was an exhibition of controlled play and strong defense, something that could be important if they face a speedy side like Brazil. Regardless, the important thing is that Les Bleus are moving on and are one game away from the championship game.
Sporting News provided live updates, highlights and more from the game. Here's what you might have missed.
