With the release of FIFA 22, Alex Scott has become the first English-speaking female FIFA video game commentator in the video game franchise's history.

The BBC and Sky Sports pundit, who competed for Arsenal and England as a player, called the move a "big moment" in bringing more representation to the industry. She appears in the game as a pitch-side reporter.

Scott follows in the steps of Spanish presenter Nira Juanco, who became the very first female commentator for any language the history of the series in FIFA 21.

EA, the publisher of FIFA, has moved toward a more diverse presentiation for its popular game, though there are more barriers that can be cleared, including a co-commentary role in a major sport title.

Top Female Players in FIFA 22

When it comes to the players on the field in FIFA 22, prolific Netherlands forward Vivianne Miedema sits joint-top of the charts among female players. Wendie Renard and Lucy Bronze join her with a FIFA-best 92 rating. Australian star scorer Sam Kerr is close behind with a 91 rating.

Three U.S. women's national team players clock in at 90: Megan Rapinoe, Alex Morgan and Tobin Heath all received impressive ratings in FIFA 22. Julie Ertz (89), Becky Sauerbrunn (88) and Lindsey Horan (87) are among the other top-rated American players.

Talented performers from 10 different nationalities are included among the top 22 female players in the game, with experienced Canadian forward Christine Sinclair, the world's top international goal scorer among men and women, sporting an 89 rating after helping Canada to 2021 Olympic gold.
