Fantasy Football: Rooney, Ozil, and more players who should be in your team image

One of the biggest problems for Fantasy players, for both experts and fans alike, is bias. Coming into the season we have our favourites and often cling to them too long, and too often we have players that we dislike and therefore ignore - despite plenty of evidence that they would help our teams. This is why statistics are so important in real and Fantasy football alike, as the numbers are objective and are the perfect tool for countering bias. As such, here are 11 players who, for some reason or another, are owned far below their current value and performance level and would be worthwhile additions to your team

FOR: Wayne Rooney - Everton, £7.6m, owned in 7.2% of teams

Over the last five matches, no player has scored more Premier League goals than Wayne Rooney (6). While some may dismiss him due to his downward career trend, the goals are still clearly there and he has value as long as they are. Everton do have a rough schedule ahead with three top five defences in the next five matches, but Rooney is not one to shy away from a challenge having already scored against Manchester City, Arsenal, and Liverpool this season.

FOR: Richarlison - Watford, £6.4m, owned in 4.39% of teams

FOR: Charlie Austin - Southampton, £6.6m, owned in 2.01% of teams

MID: Son Heung-Min - Tottenham, £7.3m, owned in 7.37% of teams

MID: Mesut Ozil - Arsenal, £7.5m, owned in 6.46% of teams

This would have been an even sneakier shout before his wonderful goal at the weekend, but he’s still heinously under-owned. Ozil is currently second in both chances created and accurate crosses over the last five which signifies that he should start picking up assists sooner rather than later. Oh, and Arsenal play just two top ten defences between now and February.

MID: Wilfried Zaha - Crystal Palace, £6.9m, owned in 2.43% of teams

MID: Jesse Lingard - Manchester United, £6.1m, owned in 2.21% of teams

Lingard has been on an absolute tear of late, notching four goals and an assist in his last five matches. Perhaps even more important is the fact that he started all of those matches and seems to have earned the trust of manager Jose Mourinho. He is a terrific budget differential and will face just one top ten defence in the next five matches.

DEF: Andreas Christensen - Chelsea, £5.2m, owned in 2.96% of teams

DEF: Arthur Masuaku - West Ham, £5.1m, owned in 0.15% of teams

Masuaku is the perfect embodiment of this kind of article. Literally owned in less than one percent of teams he, and the West Ham defence, have kept three consecutive clean sheets - including against Chelsea and Arsenal. His attacking play also could earn him positive returns as Masuaku has had more successful take-ons than any defender in the league and sits top five among all players on the season. His blank in MW21 is unfortunate, but the ease of the fixtures surrounding it make that a risk that may just be worth taking.
