Fans' Asian Player of the Week: Persija Jakarta's Marko Simic image

Persija Jakarta's Marko Simic has been chosen as last week's Fans' Asian Player of the Week, following his impressive performance in his team's 4-0 win over Johor Darul Ta'zim in an AFC Cup Matchday five fixture.

Simic was exceptional, scoring all four goals, as the Indonesian side put in an impressive performance against their Malaysian opponents. He was also named Goal's Player of the Week.

Marko Simic got on the end of a perfectly weighted cross from Riko Simanjuntak and fired Persija into the lead in the 8th minute. He doubled their lead with a thunderous header from Rezaldi Hehanusa’s pinpoint free-kick, just four minutes later.

In the 19th minute, he completed his hat-trick Riko and Ramandi Lestaluhu set up Simic to leave Johor in disbelief. Late on, Simic would score a fourth goal from the penalty spot as the Malaysian side wilted away.

Also in the fray for the honour were Bienvenido Maranon of Ceres Negros and 4.25 SC's Kim Yu-Song - both of whom were impressive in the games this past week.

But the fans made their voice count as Simic received a whopping 75% of the votes.

Congrats Marko!
