Egypt President AbdelFattah Elsisi has congratulated Mohamed Salah for winning the 2017-18 PFA Player of the Year.
The Liverpool star, scorer of 41 goals across all competitions this season, defeated Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne to become the second African player to win the award after Leicetser City’s Riyad Mahrez.
And the number one citizen of the north African nation has joined the football world to laud the forward who is enjoying an amazing debut campaign with his Merseyside club.
“I want to congratulate our son Mohamed Salah on what he has accomplished,” Elsisi wrote on Instagram.
“What he achieved is a source of pride to all of us and it emphasizes the capabilities of Egyptians in all different fields. I am proud of him and of every Egyptian working hard to represent this country.”
