North Carolina, having navigated its non-conference schedule cleanly, begins ACC play with a bang as the Tar Heels travel to visit arch rivals Duke under the Friday night lights.

Picked in preseason to finish third in the brutally tough ACC, 12th-ranked UNC will face ranked opponents in Clemson, Pitt, and Stanford plus preseason second-place pick Notre Dame all later on its schedule, but will have had this match circled for quite some time.

Duke have begun the year strong as well, with four non-conference wins plus a victory at Virginia last weekend to open their ACC slate, with plenty to prove after being slighted in both the conference and national rankings.

The matchup also pits two of the nation's leading scorers against one another. Duke's Ulfur Bjornsson has so far through the short season, leading the ACC and tied for third in the entire NCAA, while Martin Vician of UNC is one behind him. Both have come from Europe to play collegiately, with Bjornsson hailing from Iceland and Vician a grad transfer from Harvard initially arriving from Slovakia.
