Colombian forward Dayro Moreno is heading home.

Atletico Nacional announced Sunday that it has reached a pre-agreement with Moreno to join the team ahead of its 2017 Apertura season. Moreno will arrive from Club Tijuana, where he topped the Liga MX scoring chart in the recently concluded Apertura with 11 goals.

Chicharito's agent shoots down transfer rumors

"Atletico Nacional informs that it has reached a pre-agreement with the Colombian forward Dayro Moreno for the 2017 campaign," a club news release read. "The player be present for medical exams this week in order to compete with the champion of America this year."

Tijuana announced Sunday night that there is an agreement between the two teams.

Nacional won the 2016 Copa Libertadores crown but has seen that success turn into a bit of a liability as top teams have scooped up much of its talent. That's hit the attacking portion of the side especially hard, with forward Marlos Moreno joining Manchester City before the previous tournament, and fellow striker Jonathan Copete moving to Santos of Brazil. Rumors have persisted this offseason that young striker Miguel Borja also will be on his way out this winter.

Moreno was held out of Tijuana's Liga MX opener Saturday with what assistant coach Alvaro Galindo said was a situation with the club's directors.

His strong performances with Tijuana earned him a recall to the Colombia national team for the Copa America Centenario this past summer. He saw time in three matches at that tournament but didn't score.

Nacional would become the fourth Colombian side the 31-year-old has represented if the move goes through.
