On his way to becoming an Arsenal legend, Patrick Vieira played a tough-tackling part in several epic games across 17 appearances in the Gunners' midfield against Manchester United.

Now, the Crystal Palace head coach is aiming to end United's nine-match winning run in all competitions and help the Eagles arrest a sequence of two home losses without scoring, conceding seven times over the course of their defeats to Tottenham Hotspur and Fulham.

Palace produced an improved display as they lost 1-0 at Chelsea on Sunday. "It's about scoring," said Vieira, whose side will stop the visitors from going second in the table if they avoid defeat on Wednesday. "We should score more goals — that is a fact."

Crystal Palace vs Man United predicted lineups

Defender Joachim Andersen had to be replaced for Palace against Chelsea and is a doubt with a calf problem.

Midfielder James McArthur remains out with a groin issue and defender Nathan Ferguson has been training individually as he returns to full fitness

Crystal Palace predicted lineup (4-3-3): Guaita (GK) — Clyne, Tomkins, Guehi, Mitchell — Olise, Doucoure, Schlupp — Eze, Zaha, Ayew

Full-back Diogo Dalot (thigh) was forced off during United's 3-0 Carabao Cup win over Charlton Athletic on December 10 and missed the 2-1 comeback victory over Manchester City in the Premier League last Saturday.

Donny van de Beek could sit out the rest of the season with a serious knee injury, while long-term absentees Axel Tuanzebe and Jadon Sancho are likely to be out again. Wout Weghorst should be available, but fellow loanee Jack Butland can't play against his parent club.

Anthony Martial came off at halftime of the derby win and Marcus Rashford also suffered a knock, so both forwards will need to come through fitness tests. Ten Hag could opt to rest Fred and Casemiro, who would be banned for the game at Arsenal if they were booked against Palace.

Man United predicted lineup (4-2-3-1): De Gea (GK) — Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Shaw, Malacia — Eriksen, McTominay — Garnacho, Fernandes, Rashford — Martial

Crystal Palace vs Man United prediction, betting odds

United are odds-on favourites to win three consecutive away league games for the first time in more than two years, with Palace long odds to end their three-match losing home run in all competitions by winning at Selhurst Park for the first time since October 29.

Palace beat United 1-0 at home last season as part of a sequence of three wins in the past six editions of this game in the Premier League, while Wilfried Zaha can become the former United player with the outright most goals against them if he scores in this fixture for a fourth time for the hosts.

Marcus Rashford is also seeking to become the first United player to find the net in eight consecutive appearances since Ruud van Nistelrooy in May 2003.

Prediction: 1-1
