Mikel Arteta's Arsenal narrowly picked up all three points at Selhurst Park with a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace on Monday night.

Martin Odegaard's penalty ensured the Gunners continue their 100% win rate this season, something only two other sides have achieved after just two games.

Arsenal dominated the first half and started the second in the same fashion. They were rewarded for their efforts when Gabriel Martinelli took a quick free-kick to find Eddie Nketiah in behind the Palace defence, before Sam Johnstone brought the forward down.

Up stepped the Gunners captain, Odegaard, who slotted perfectly into the bottom left corner to give his side the lead. Since the start of last season, only Bukayo Saka has contributed to more Premier League goals for Arsenal than the Norwegian.

Moments after taking the lead, however, Takehiro Tomiyasu was shown a yellow card for time-wasting while taking a throw-in. Shortly after that, he pulled on the shirt of Jordan Ayew, who beat him for pace, and then received a second yellow card and was sent off.

Palace, with an extra man, suddenly had the majority of possession and the momentum swung in their favour. Eberechi Eze used his skill to dribble into the box and was sandwiched between Declan Rice and Thomas Partey. He fell to the ground but referee David Coote waved play on.

The home side continued to push on in their search of an equaliser, but Arsenal's defence showed resilience to see out the three points.

After gameweek two in the Premier League, Brighton & Hove Albion top the table with six points. Pep Guardiola's men are second, with Arsenal behind in third.

Crystal Palace vs Arsenal updates, highlights, and commentary

Tonight was Arsenal’s 200th Premier League away clean sheet, becoming only the third side to do so after Manchester United (205) and Chelsea (204).

Another fine outing for Saliba on a tough night for Arsenal's defence.

Full-time: That's all at Selhurst Park! Arsenal cling on to all three points despite Palace's efforts but the Gunners' defence stayed solid and Arteta's men are two wins from two!

93rd minute: Palace are knocking it around patiently as they build their attacks but are struggling to break Arsenal's back line. They need to start taking chances as time runs out.

90th minute: There will be a minimum of seven minutes of added time! Enough for a Palace equaliser?

80th minute: Sky Sports has just shown the two bookable offences by Tomiyasu and while it does look soft, you can no longer time waste and preventing an attack has always been a yellow card!

72nd minute: Eze's trickery gets him sandwiched between Partey and Rice inside the box and he goes to ground. Expectedly, there's a large appeal for a penalty but David Coote waves play on.

67th minute: Tomiyasu has been sent off! Ayew beats him for pace and the Japanese international pulls his shirt back. It's slightly harsh but overall probably a bookable offence.

59th minute: Tomiyasu has been booked for time-wasting! It's a bit early for that, isn't it?!

56th minute: Since January 2022, Arteta's men have not lost when taking the lead in the Premier League. However, Palace gained the most points after going behind last season (25 points). Let's see what the final half an hour has in store for us!

53rd minute: Odegaard steps up and slots it home into the bottom left corner!

51st minute: Arsenal continue their dominance from the first half and are awarded a penalty! Nketiah is brought down after knocking the ball past Johnstone who cynically brings him down.

46th minute: The players are back out on the field and the second half is underway!

Half-time: Arsenal have seen the most of the ball and have taken nine shots but only one has hit the target. Palace look like they could cause a few problems on the break and will no doubt look to continue that in the second half.

43rd minute: The Gunners take a quick free-kick and the ball makes its way to Martinelli on the volley but he smashes well wide.

36th minute: Arsenal go right up the other end and Rice finds Nketiah with a delicate pass but his dink over Johnstone was ambitious and sailed over the bar.

35th minute: That's an excellent challenge from Saliba to deny Ayew a potential shot at goal. The defender perfectly timed it and had to, otherwise it was a definite penalty!

29th minute: OFF THE POST FOR ARSENAL! Nketiah uses his excellent footwork to skip past Andersen and tries to find the far corner but it's denied by the post.

27th minute: We have our first yellow card of the evening as Ayew catches Havertz with a late challenge, there was no question about that decision despite his protests.

24th minute: Arsenal have currently had 68% possession but are still waiting for their first shot on target.

16th minute: Palace are appealing for a penalty! Edouard's effort strikes Ben White on the floor but it quite clearly hits him in the midriff.

12th minute: The home fans are quite clearly happy with Michael Olise opting to stay at Selhurst rather than head to Stamford Bridge.

8th minute: Palace have their first attack through Ayew but his cross is blocked well by Saliba.

5th minute: Arsenal have made a bright start enjoying the majority of possession but are yet to create a dangerous opportunity.

1st minute: The teams are out and we're underway at Selhurst Park!

15 minutes prior to kickoff: Arsenal's Monday night football record isn't the best. They have lost all four of their away Premier League games played on Monday nights under Mikel Arteta - their last win coming in December 2019 against West Ham Fredrik Ljungberg was caretaker manager.

30 minutes prior to kickoff: Buyako Saka is playing in his 82nd Premier League game in a row for Arsenal - that equals Paul Merson's record in the competition for the Gunners between February 1995 and February 1997.

60 minutes prior to kickoff: Team news is in!

90 minutes prior to kickoff: Palace manager, Roy Hodgson says they are facing a potential 'Premier League winner' tonight.

2 hours prior to kickoff: Palace have only beaten Arsenal once in their last eight meetings and lost both Premier League matches against the Gunners last season. Can they stop the rot this time?
