Police have opened an investigation after Philippe Coutinho's car window was smashed outside of Anfield during the club's awards event.
A public appeal for information has been made after the Brazil international's Porsche had a rock thrown through it.
"Merseyside Police can confirm a report was received of a car being damaged at a car park outside Anfield stadium [on Monday]," a statement read.
"A report was received at about 7.50pm to a report that the driver-side window of a black Porsche vehicle had been smashed at around 7.30pm."
Initial reports claimed the attack on the 24-year-old's car was committed by fans who had been angered by speculation in the press that he has agreed to join Barcelona. However, those claims have been dismissed.
It was a further disappointment for Coutinho as he was beaten to the club's Player of the Season award by Sadio Mane, while Trent Alexander-Arnold won Young Player of the Season and Emre Can took the prize for the best goal for his effort against Watford last week.
Former Inter star Coutinho has scored 11 goals in 34 games in all competitions this season as Jurgen Klopp's men look to secure third place in the Premier League and a spot in next season's Champions League.
