Colombia will look to extend their unbeaten run to 27 games when they battle Panama in a 2024 Copa America quarterfinal on Saturday.
Los Cafeteros are coming off a 1-1 draw with Brazil to clinch the top spot in Group D with seven points, while Panama beat the United States and Bolivia to finish second in Group C with six points and get to this stage for the first time.
Colombia, who last won a Copa America title in 2001, have finished third in two of the past three events, including 2016 and 2021. Nestor Lorenzo's side were one of the leading contenders to lift the trophy at the start of the tournament and now head into the knockout stages with a decent opportunity to break their 23-year drought and reclaim South America's coveted title.
Panama, meanwhile, weren't able to get out of the group stage in 2016, the only other time they have competed in the competition.

Colombia vs. Panama lineups & team news
Colombia will be without Crystal Palace midfielder Jefferson Lerma, who is suspended after picking up a second yellow card of the tournament against Brazil in the group-stage finale.
Bologna center-back Jhon Lucumi was injured in the opener blocking a shot by Julio Enciso and has not played since. The injury is bad enough that defender Davinson Sanchez held up Lucumi's jersey after scoring his goal against Costa Rica, dedicating the strike to his injured teammate.
In the twilight of his career, 32-year-old James Rodriguez started every game of the group stage for Colombia, with three assists so far at these finals.
Colombia projected starting lineup (4-3-3, right to left): Vargas (GK) — Munoz, D. Sanchez, Cuesta, Mojica — Rios, Uribe, Arias — James, Cordoba, Diaz.
Injured: Jhon Lucumi (doubt)
Suspended: Jefferson Lerma
On a yellow: Machado, Rios, Cordoba
Panama are still without suspended captain Adalberto Carrasquilla, who was sent off late in the win over the United States for a hideous kick on Christian Pulisic. The incident was bad enough that he was banned for an additional game by CONMEBOL on top of the automatic one-game suspension for a red card.
Jose Fajardo had two goals in the group stage and will start as striker over Eduardo Guerrero. Goalkeeper Orlando Mosquera has not kept a clean sheet, leaving coach Thomas Christensen to think about a possible change to the more experienced Luis Mejia.
Panama projected starting lineup (5-4-1, right to left): Mosquera (GK) — Murillo, Farina, Cordoba, Harvey, E. Davis — Blackman, Martinez, Welch, Barcenas — Fajardo.
Injured: None.
Suspended: Adalberto Carrasquilla.
On a yellow: Murillo, Guerrero, Farina, Gondola, Welch.
Colombia vs Panama prediction
- Score prediction: Colombia 2-0 Panama
Colombia will be the favorites heading into this one and rightfully so after going on a stunning 27-match unbeaten streak, but Panama are no pushovers and won't give up easily. They'll do everything in their power to stay in the game like they did against the USA before delivering the fatal punch late in the contest.
However, all signs are pointing to Colombia advancing to the semifinals of Copa America 2024 with a relatively comfortable 2-0 victory.
