Two of the Premier League teams in the best form meet at Stamford Bridge this weekend as Chelsea host Manchester United on Saturday.

Both teams are on significant recent streaks across all competitions, with the Blues unbeaten since Thomas Tuchel's last game, the 1-0 defeat at Dinamo Zagreb, a run of seven games, while the Red Devils have gone five unbeaten dating back to the Manchester derby defeat.

The two sides are challenging for a top four spot, and a win for either side would secure such a position. Chelsea currently sit fourth on 20 points, three back of Spurs in third, while United are in fifth just a point behind the Blues.

While this fixture has never produced a rivalry of similar venom to those between other top sides, it has still often gone a long way towards determining final table positions amongst the valuable top Premier League places.

Chelsea vs. Man United betting odds

Chelsea are considered home favorites, having yet to lose under new boss Graham Potter, but with plus odds, the bookmakers understand that either side can secure a result in this match.

United are given a real chance, as they're swung to minus odds on the half-goal handicap.

Goals are expected, but not too many, as the over is a slight favorite but both garner minus odds. The "yes" result on both teams to score is a slightly more tilted favorite.

Chelsea vs. Man United recent history

Chelsea vs. Man United all-time record: Chelsea 54 wins, Man United 78 wins, 59 draws

The very recent history between these two teams has proven to be a stalemate, with four straight draws in league competition, but overall United have owned the Blues over the past five years.

In their last 11 matches, United have won just once, beating the Blues in the 2019/20 FA Cup semifinals. Over that span, Chelsea have won four and they've drawn six times.

Three of Chelsea's last four wins against United across all competitions have come in the FA Cup, with just a lone Premier League victory sandwiched between on November 5, 2017. That league win serves as the last time the Blues have toppled United in Premier League competition, a run of nine consecutive winless results.

Chelsea vs. Man United prediction

This is a very difficult match to call a winner. Both teams are in good form, and both new managers seem to have found a consistent formula.

The significant injuries for Chelsea, including N'Golo Kante, Reece James, and Welsey Fofana would seem to give United the slight edge at a ground they've never had difficulty securing a result, but those injuries have not held the Blues back since Potter took over.

Erik ten Hag has won three of his four games against 'big six' clubs since taking over, but all three wins have come at home, and the 6-3 humiliation at the Etihad stands out as a loud contrarian. When in doubt over the result, a draw is a fair play.

Chelsea vs. Man United best bets & expert analysis

Chelsea vs. Man United best bet

Recent trends and recent history between these two teams both suggest a defensive battle at Stamford Bridge this weekend.

Both teams have gone under the 2.5 goal total in each of their last three matches. Chelsea drew 0-0 with Brentford last time out after beating both Aston Villa and AC Milan by 2-0 scorelines, while United toppled Spurs 2-0 in midweek after a scoreless draw with Newcastle and a 1-0 victory over Omonia Nicosia.

The two clubs have been excellent defensively. Chelsea have not conceded a single goal in any competition since Odsonne Edouard's seventh-minute opener against Crystal Palace back on October 1, a run of five matches. This despite defensive injuries to Fofana and James, with Potter installing Kepa Arrizabalaga in goal to great effect.

United have gone three without conceding, a major overhaul from their 6-3 thrashing at the hands of rivals City and 3-2 nailbiter against Omonia Nicosia in Cyprus.

As a cherry on top, each of the last four battles between these two teams have all gone under the 2.5 goal total, each ending in a draw.

Pick: Under 2.5 goals (-105 on Caesars)

Chelsea vs. Man United prop: First half goals

Building on the previous note of defensive acumen, two teams have made a habit of shutting down for the first 45 minutes before then opening things up.

Manchester United especially appear to look for a scoreless opening half. They've reached halftime with a scoreless match in each of their last three, before scoring two second-half goals against Spurs and needing a 90th minute winner against Omonia Nicosia. Chelsea, meanwhile, haven't put up over 1.0 xG in the first half of a Premier League game since the first game of the season, collecting a league-average 6.23 xG in the first half of all matches this season.

Just like before, there's a cherry on top of this one as well. These two teams have reached halftime at 0-0 in each of their last four matchups, and even going back before that to the 3-1 FA Cup win for Chelsea, three of the goals came after the break, while Olivier Giroud's opener was scored in the 11th minute of first-half stoppage time. The game before that, a 2-0 win for United, Anthony Martial opened the scoring also in the 45th minute.

These two teams love to lock each other down for the first half.

Chelsea vs. Man United prop flier: Bruno Fernandes assist

Bruno Fernandes is back.

After struggles all season long in the United midfield, Fernandes exploded to life against Tottenham. He scored the game's second goal, but what stands out is his creativity. Fernandes created an incredible nine chances, which is the most for any player in a Premier League match since...Bruno Fernandes with 10 in September of 2021 against Aston Villa.

Fernandes didn't pick up an assist, but he collected 0.63 xA. Four of them were off corners, while three of them came on passes into the penalty area, with assists on shots with xG totals of 0.14 and 0.27. He should cash in this time around, if he's truly back for good.

Prop flier: Bruno Fernandes anytime assist (+430 on FanDuel)
