Canada vs. Jamaica result: Semifinal win sets up showdown vs. USA for Olympic berth image

The final everyone predicted is happening. After a 3-0 win over Jamaica, the Canada women's national team advanced to the final of the CONCACAF W Championship final, where it will meet its longtime rival the USWNT.

Canada will meet the USA on Monday, July 18 and the stakes will be high: a 2024 Olympic berth and the title of best team in North America will be on the line. It will be No. 1 (USA) vs. No. 6 (Canada) in the world. Defending Olympic champions (Canada) vs. defending World Cup champions (USA).

"It will be a great match, it always is," Canada coach Bev Priestman told Paramount+ postgame. "Canada-USA is always a great match. We can't underestimate them, but at the same time we've been waiting for this for a while, so we're excited."

And based on how Canada played against Jamaica, Les Rouges will feel like they have a real chance to win. Goals by Jessie Fleming, Allysha Chapman, and Adriana Leon secured a victory that never seemed in doubt.

"I would say we probably should have had more and been more clinical in front of goal," Priestman added.

Jamaica, which did not have its captain Khadija "Bunny" Shaw available for the match, still managed to threaten in transition on a handful of occasions, but Canada goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan and defender Kadeisha Buchanan were up to the task. The Canadians kept another clean sheet, and like the Americans have yet to give up a goal in the tournament in going a perfect 4W-0L-0D thus far.

"I thought we kept the tempo high and our movement off the ball was quite good. We looked to play forward when we could and we imposed ourselves," said second-half sub Adriana Leon, who had a goal and assist.

"We came to the tournament to win the whole thing. So job well done to get to the final, and now we'll take care of business."

Canada vs. Jamaica live updates, highlights from W Championship

Final: Canada 3, Jamaica 0

85th min.: Another well-worked attack by Canada. Janine Beckie with the no-look pass into space for Julia Grosso, who dribbles by a defender and then unleashes a shot in the box that's stopped by Jamaica 'keeper Rebecca Spencer, who has singlehandedly kept the score respectable.

78th min.: Adriana Leon, who barely celebrated her goal, has been aggressive since coming on and takes another shot on goal which forces a spectacular save from Jamaica's Rebecca Spencer. Nothing comes of the corner kick.

77th min.: Goal Canada! The subs produce again. Jordyn Huitema flicks another fantastic Janine Beckie cross into the box, and the ball falls perfectly to Adriana Leon, who finishes on the half volley.

69th min.: Canada sub — Sophie Schmidt comes in for Desiree Scott for Canada's final substitution of the match.

64th min.: Goal Canada! Adriana Leon delivers a long cross from the right side, and who's there to meet it at the far post? Left back Allysha Chapman who pushed all the way up into the edge of the six-yard box for the headed finish.

57th min.: Chance for Canada! A Janine Beckie corner kick finds, you guessed it, Vanessa Gilles and she heads it on goal. But Jamaica's Deneisha Blackwood clears it off the line.

53rd min.: Canada subs — Four fresh players come on with Jordyn Huitema (for Christine Sinclair), Adriana Leon (for Nichelle Prince), Julia Grosso (for Jessie Fleming), and Allysha Chapman (for Ashley Lawrence).

52nd min.: Janine Beckie with two consecutive shots, but she can't find the net. She's playing well, but hasn't been fortunate on her finishes.

46th min.: Second half is underway, and Jamaica makes two subs. Mireya Gray and Atlanta Primus are on for Trudi Carter and Chinyelu Asher. Meanwhile, here's a potential explanation as to Deanne Rose's absence for Canada:

Halftime: Canada 1, Jamaica 0

Halftime: Canada once again create a multitude of chances, but only have one goal to show for the dominance. The Olympic champs definitely need at least one more goal to feel like the result is in hand because Jamaica have shown on a handful of chances that they can threaten in transition.

Jessie Fleming has been Canada's best player in this tournament so far and has proven to be sharp in her runs and her shots on goal. It's no surprise she got another opener for Canada, who will now be wondering whether they have to contend with Jamaica captain Khadija "Bunny" Shaw in the second half.

46th+ min.: Jamaica get a shot off in the Canada box that's blocked by Kadeisha Buchanan, who's always ready to make the big defensive play. The Reggae Girlz are definitely still in this match.

36th min.: The chances keep coming for Canada. After a header by Quinn went wide, it's a Jessie Fleming curler destined for the left corner stopped by exceptional Jamaica 'keeper Rebecca Spencer.

34th min.: It's disarray in the Jamaica box when the ball gets there and Nichelle Prince redirects a shot off the left post. A failed clearance by Jamaica's Jody Brown led to that chance. Canada are coming on strong and the Reggae Girlz are on their heels.

28th min.: Desiree Scott with a shot on goal. She's ready to pounce on a loose ball near the top of the box, but her shot is gobbled up by goalkeeper Rebecca Spencer. Moments before, Vanessa Gilles was dangerous on a corner kick:

24th min.: Chance for Jamaica! Jody Brown nearly gets to a ball in the box before Canada goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan, who clears to a Jamaican player outside the box. The follow-up shot from Trudi Carter finishes just wide.

23rd min.: Fleming getting the breakthrough goal for Canada just like the last match.

18th min.: Goal Canada! Ashley Lawrence with a great run to the end line and it's a beautifully weighted cross which finds Jessie Fleming at the near post. She beats the Jamaica 'keeper with a header inside the six-yard box.

13th min.: Jamaica with a shot that forces Canada goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan into a save. Canada are in control, but Jamaica can be dangerous in transition.

9th min.: Moments after twisting her knee on a play, right back Jayda Hylton Pelaia comes off with Chantelle Swaby taking her place. Adding to the heartbreak is that this was a special match for her:

1st min.: We're underway in Monterrey.

20 mins from kickoff: Bev Priestman is sounding confident ahead of this match.

60 mins from kickoff: Two Angel City teammates will be facing off in this CONCACAF W Championship semifinal.

Canada vs. Jamaica projected lineups

Canada head coach Bev Priestman sticks with the same team that overcame Costa Rica in the final group stage match.
