Torino striker Andrea Belotti would be a better option to replace Diego Costa at Chelsea than Alvaro Morata, says Gianfranco Zola.

The Blues are in the market for a new striker after informing their 20-goal top scorer from last season that his services are no longer required .

Several options are reported to have been considered by the reigning Premier League champions, with Romelu Lukaku one target to have slipped through the net to Manchester United.

'Interest but no bids for Belotti'

Of those still on the market, Chelsea legend Zola feels that Torino frontman Belotti would be a more logical option for Antonio Conte than a Spain international at Real Madrid.

He told talkSPORT : “To be honest, I was thinking Chelsea should go for Andrea Belotti in Italy.

“I thought that considering the type of qualities Costa has, that Belotti was the perfect fit.

Alvaro Morata Real Madrid

“Morata is a little bit different, he’s more of a finesse player. He hasn’t got the presence of a player like Costa in the box. He’s a different player, he brings other qualities.

“Costa was very influential last season, he’s a type of player who fits with the style of football at Chelsea, and that [finding a like-for-like replacement] will be the key for Chelsea.”

Neither Belotti nor Morata will come cheap for Chelsea, however.

Real were demanding €90 million for Morata when United came calling earlier in the summer window, while Belotti has a €100m release clause in his contract.
