Atlanta United has recruited another South American talent to its cause.
The MLS expansion side announced the signing of Chile international Carlos Carmona on Monday, using target allocation money to complete the deal.

Carmona, 29, joins from Italian side Atalanta, having played for the club since 2010. The defensive midfielder has made 155 appearances in Serie A over the past nine seasons with Atalanta and Reggina.
A veteran of Chile's 2010 and 2014 World Cup teams, Carmona has earned 47 caps.
"Having represented Chile at each of the last two FIFA World Cups, in addition to his extensive experience in Serie A, Carlos brings veteran leadership and a versatile skill set to our club," Atlanta United president Darren Eales said in a news release. "He fits in naturally with our style of play and also addresses an area of need. We couldn't be happier to welcome him to the club."
Carmona is the fifth South American player to sign with Atlanta, joining Paraguayan playmaker Miguel Almiron, Argentine defender Leandro Gonzalez Pirez, Argentine winger Hector Villalba and Venezuelan forward Josef Martinez.
