Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce has again hailed sensational winger Albert Adomah, this time for his influence on Monday's thrashing of Bristol City.

Once more, the Ghanaian made his presence felt in the Championship as he set up Scott Hogan for the 23rd minute opener in the New Year's Day fixture.

The Claret and Blue ultimately humiliated their visitors by a 5-0 scoreline.

"It was a good way to start the New Year," Bruce said, as reported by his club's official website.

"It was a funny old game because we didn't have the best of starts to the match.

"But some teams come here and sit deep and we had to have a bit of patience.

"Albert Adomah produced some great quality and Scott Hogan responded with a terrific header.

"The goal changed the game.

"We had a slow first 20 minutes and there was a period in the second half where they looked a threat from set-pieces, with their two centre halves.

"We've played well. It's good to score five and it puts us in a good position."

Monday's effort was Adomah's second successive assist, having set up the only goal of Saturday's 1-0 triumph over Middlesbrough.

His goal tally looks even more impressive as he has so far netted 11 times in this season's Championship.

He joined the Claret and Blue in summer of 2016 from then Premier League side Middlesbrough.
