When is Arsenal vs. Tottenham? North London derby date, time, schedule for Premier League fixtures 2022/23 image

The second north London derby of the 2021/22 season felt decisive in both clubs' season and has left its imprint on the 2022/23 Premier League and UEFA Champions League schedule.

Tottenham's comically easy 3-0 win over their rivals did not entirely decide fourth place last term, which Arsenal would still have earned at the end of the season had they not subsequently lost limply at Newcastle.

The tameness of Arsenal's performance at the last-chance saloon of St James' Park, though, felt reflective of a team deeply dispirited by being heavily beaten by their fiercest and closest rivals.

The ramifications for the clubs in the transfer market has been that Spurs have been able to lure players with the promise of Champions League football in 2022/23, with the likes of Richarlison and Ivan Perisic both boosting their attacking options.

Can Arsenal catch up, or will Spurs finish in front of the Gunners for a seventh successive season? Here's when they'll resume hostilities.

When is the north London derby 2022/23?

Arsenal vs. Tottenham rivalry

Both sets of fans loathe losing the derby, but the brutality of Arsenal's defeat last May was compounded by the opportunity they had at kickoff.

Victory at the stadium they most yearn to win at would have ended Tottenham's hopes of reaching the Champions League. Even a draw would have left Arsenal leaving only one win from their two remaining games.

Tottenham's trouncing of Mikel Arteta's side symbolised Spurs' supremacy over Arsenal in the table in recent years: the gap was 11 points in 2016/17 and 12 points in 2017/18, although last season was the second in a row in which the sides have been separated by a single point.

The fixture first took place in 1896, when Arsenal were called Woolwich Arsenal, and there have been a litany of classic derbies, including three FA Cup semifinals between 1991 and 2001, with Arsenal winning two of them.

Spurs went 20 games without winning the fixture between 1999 and 2008, looking on with furious envy as Arsene Wenger orchestrated an Arsenal side who frequently dominated English football as well as the derby.

Harry Kane, who scored twice in their latest victory over Arsenal, has found the net at least once in the fixture in eight successive seasons, and Son Heung-min, who was also on the scoresheet, has four goals and two assists in the five most recent editions.

Arsenal vs Tottenham head-to-head record

Tottenham's 3-1 defeat at Arsenal in their first meeting of 2021/22 was their 84th defeat in the derby. Spurs have recorded 67 wins, with 54 draws.

Kane is the top scorer in the derby with 13 goals, followed by Emmanuel Adebayor, who scored for both clubs and ended with a tally of ten.

The largest ever victory in the game was a 6-0 away win for Arsenal in 1935, and three players have scored hat-tricks in the derby: Ted Drake (1934) and Alan Sunderland (1978) for Arsenal, either side of Terry Dyson (1961) for Spurs.

The highest-scoring game between the pair was an extravagantly entertaining match in November 2004, when Arsenal won 5-4 at Spurs in the first Premier League game to feature nine different goalscorers, club legends Thierry Henry and Ledley King among them.
