Dele Alli is enjoying the “journey” at Tottenham but admits he could head “somewhere else” in the future amid talk of interest from Real Madrid.

The England international netted 22 times for Spurs in the 2016-17 campaign, with that return representing a personal best in senior football.

His efforts, after just two seasons in the Premier League, have seen him emerge as one of the hottest properties in Europe.

Alli: Aggression is part of my game

The likes of Madrid and Barcelona are said to be monitoring his progress from Spain, but Alli sees no reason to take on a new challenge while he is still enjoying being part of a progressive squad at White Hart Lane.

The 21-year-old told reporters when pressed on his future: “It’s not really something I am thinking about too much.

“I think people get too worried about where they are going to eventually end up.They lose focus on the journey, and are not enjoying it.

“So, for me as a player, I’m signed at Tottenham and I am enjoying it there. Who knows where I am going to end up but I am enjoying the journey.

“If I do happen to go somewhere else, I’m sure if it will be at a time when I think that’s what’s needed.

“But, for me personally, I am just looking forward to enjoying the journey I have in front of me.”

Alli was snapped up by Spurs from MK Dons in February 2015.

The initial £5 million fee required o acquire his services now looks to be one of the best pieces of transfer business in modern times, with several Premier League clubs cursing their inability to spot and buy into such obvious potential.
