Kwadwo Asamoah made his first left-back appearance of the season as Juventus handed Bologna a 3-0 defeat in the Serie A on Sunday.

The 28-year-old, who has mostly played in midfield this season, seems to have impressed coach Massimiliano Allegri, who confirmed the Ghanaian's selection for Wednesday's Coppa Italia fixture against Atalanta.

“Kwadwo played very well on Sunday and will be called upon again [today]," Allegri said at his pre-match presser.

"Mandzukic’s commitment was as high as ever and I was pleased with him too; he is in excellent form at the moment both mentally and physically.

"Either Mario [Mandzukic] or [Gonzalo] Higuain can play and it changes little, I have absolute faith in both of them."

Asamoah's new season role comes on the back of uncertainty over the future of regular left-back Patrice Evra.

The Frenchman has been excused from action to have enough time to ponder over his future, according to Allegri, with various portals reporting a possible move back to Manchester United.

Asamoah, however, is not completely new to the role, as he periodically played in that position, and largely as a left-wing-back under former Juve coach Antonio Conte.

The Black Star has made seven league appearances thus far this season.

He joined Juventus from Udinese in 2012.
