Who is Alex Morgan's husband? Meet longtime MLS player Servando Carrasco, her college soccer sweetheart image

Alex Morgan is perhaps the 2023 Women's World Cup's biggest star. The 34-year old is one of the greatest players in U.S. history, having tallied more than 120 times in the red, white and blue since making her debut in 2010.

Morgan figures to play a central role as the Stars and Stripes seek their third straight title. Leading from the front, the left-footed sorceress can conjure goals out of nothing. Off the pitch, Morgan is an icon, as well, having waded into the world of pop culture while retaining her commitment to her team and its fundamental ideals.

All in all, it's been quite the journey for Morgan from her humble California beginnings. She couldn't do it alone, though. And one source she has drawn significant motivation from is her husband, Servando Carrasco.

Carrasco and Morgan met in college, each making waves at Cal-Berkeley. They've become one of the first families of U.S. Soccer, joining the likes of Megan Rapinoe and Sue Bird, Zach and Julie Ertz and Ali Krieger and Ashlyn Harris as USWNT couples bonded by athletic backgrounds.

So, just who is Carrasco? And what's he up to? The Sporting News fills you in on what you need to know about the longtime MLS standout.

Who is Alex Morgan's husband?

A gifted soccer player in his own right, Servando Carrasco is a California native who enjoyed a lengthy MLS career as a defensive midfielder. The 34-year old was an All-State-caliber player in high school, impressed at Cal and eventually earned second-round billing in the 2011 MLS SuperDraft. He then set out on a fairly successful career around the country, enjoying spells with Seattle Sounders, Houston Dynamo, Sporting Kansas City, Orlando City and L.A. Galaxy.

Carrasco was never his team's highest-profile player. But his tactical functionality, tough tackling and discipline in defense made him a pivotal squad piece in mid-table sides throughout the 2010s.

Carrasco married Morgan, his college sweetheart, in 2014. The couple welcomed their first child, Charlie, in May 2020.

Where is Servando Carrasco now?

Carrasco last turned out for a professional side in 2020, making 12 appearances for USL League One side Fort Lauderdale CF (it's since been rebranded to Inter Miami II).

In his time away from the field, Carrasco has picked up a few hobbies. In January 2022, he finished his first-ever trail marathon. Based on his Instagram, he also seems to have grown increasingly proficient with a camera, capturing a host of beautiful natural landscapes.

In regards to his career, Carrasco hasn't strayed too far from the game. He spent a short time working as a scout for Wasserman Media Group, one of the preeminent sports marketing agencies in the country. He's also been a partner in the Berkeley-based company FootyMarket. Other partners include former USMNT striker Joey Altidore.
