Albert Adomah has realised his dream of scoring in the Second City derby as he found the back of the net in Sunday's derby between Aston Villa and Birmingham City in the English Championship.

His second half goal helped Villa to a 2-0 win over city rivals Birmingham.

The strike, his 13th league goal of the season, also smashed his record of 12 achieved in 2013-14 while on the books of Middlesbrough.

At Villa Park on Sunday, Adomah broke the deadlock on the hour mark, receiving a pass from Jack Grealish before releasing a shot into the bottom corner.

Nine minutes to full-time, the home side made it 2-0 when Conor Hourihane controlled Harlee Dean's header on the edge of the box before blasting a volley into the net.

“Myself, I’m looking forward to it and hopefully I can score in that game because I still haven’t scored in that yet, so that’s my next target, but hopefully, we can win against them as a team," Adomah said ahead of the game.

The Ghanaian has made 27 appearances for Villa this season, involving 24 starts. His side have jumped to second on the table.

He joined the Claret and Blues in summer 2016.
