The Quants offer this week’s college football best bets image

While Massey-Peabody did not have any “Big Plays” on the college football slate last week, their best bets are 12-8 on the season.  They’re offering two more Big Plays for this week’s slate, including tonight’s Conference USA tilt between Marshall and Middle Tennessee State (Fox Sports 1, 7:30 p.m. ET).

Marshall, laying 8.5 points on the road, comes in boasting a bloated 4-2 record, which they've built up by playing a lackluster schedule.  They’ve failed to cover in their two opportunities as road favorites this season, losing outright, in fact, to Ohio.

The Quants love Middle Tennessee State as a home dog tonight.

(The Linemakers’ on Sporting News’ Kenny White, meanwhile, offers a selection of his own on the total.  Marshall games have been staying UNDER lofty totals this season, but they’ve faced teams that play at a slow pace.  MTSU likes to play as fast as Marshall does, so there should be some points scored tonight. OVER is the play.)

The Quants like another obscure home dog on Saturday night -- San Diego State +8.5 at  home against Fresno State.

Fresno State is undefeated, but more importantly, they’re just 1-5 against the spread  Now, they run into an improving San Diego State team that has won three straight and is coming off a bye.

“I think the final scores of (San Diego State's) games don’t tell us the whole story of who they are.”

Big Plays (12-8 YTD)
• Middle Tennessee State +8.5 vs. Marshall
• San Diego State +8.5 vs. Fresno State
