Florida has won nine in a row over Tennessee with the last seven victories coming by double-digit margins. The Gators, who were listed as 2.5-point road underdogs as of Tuesday, won't be favored Saturday against the Volunteers for just the second time in 10 years (assuming the line holds). After missing back-to-back games, UF will get starting OT D.J. Humphries back at UT. However, starting DT Leon Orr is out and starting LB Michael Taylor is a question mark.
Quick hitters
-- Utah State star QB Chuckie Keeton remains questionable for Friday's game at BYU. Keeton, who tore his ACL in a home loss to the Cougars last year, suffered another knee injury in a 36-24 home win over Wake Forest on Sept. 13. He was in street clothes for a 21-14 overtime loss at Arkansas State in Week 4. Keeton came into the 2014 season with 7,114 career yards (rushing and passing), an incredible 56/13 touchdown-to-interception ratio and 14 rushing TDs. However, the senior signal caller has been unable to find his form in three games this year. Keeton has been intercepted four times and has produced just three scores (two TD passes, one rushing score). If Keeton can't go, sophomore Darell Garretson will get his ninth career start. Garretson led the Aggies to six wins in seven starts last season, with the only defeat coming in a 24-17 loss at Fresno State in the Mountain West Conference Championship Game.
-- Kentucky has suspended four freshmen for Saturday's home game vs. South Carolina. Reports out of Lexington indicate the players were involved in a pellet-gun incident on campus Sunday night, but there were no injuries. The quartet includes RB Boom Williams, QB Drew Barker, WR Dorian Baker and DL Tymere Dubose. Barker and Dubose are expected to be redshirted this season, but Williams has turned 21 touches into 174 yards and two TDs. Baker has 11 receptions for 122 yards and one TD. The Wildcats are 5-point home underdogs vs. the Gamecocks.
-- South Carolina QB Dylan Thompson missed Monday's practice with a mild neck sprain, but Steve Spurrier expects his starting QB to be ready to go by Saturday.
-- Maryland QB C.J. Brown is questionable for Saturday's home game vs. Ohio State. after injuring his left (non-throwing) wrist in a 37-15 win at Indiana. Brown has led the Terrapins to a 4-1 record by throwing for 996 yards with a 7/3 TD-INT ratio. He has also rushed for a team-high 266 yards and five TDs. Caleb Rowe would make his fourth career start if Brown can't play. Rowe, a junior, has completed 21-of-32 throws this year for 316 yards with a 4/1 TD-INT ratio.
-- San Diego State QB Quinn Kaehler has been downgraded to doubtful for Friday's game at Fresno State. Kaehler, who has an injured shoulder, has 861 passing yards through four games, but he's been intercepted six times compared to just two TD tosses. Kaehler had a 19/9 TD-INT ratio in 2013. True freshman QB Nick Bawden is expected to make his first career start for the Aztecs.
-- Gamblers should check the status of UNLV star WR Davante Davis before wagering on the Rebels' game Saturday at San Jose State. Davis is nursing a wrist injury that caused him to miss last week's 34-17 loss at San Diego State. Davis, a first-team All-Mountain West selection in 2013 when he had 87 catches for 1,290 yards and 14 TDs, is considered questionable. He had made 17 receptions for 268 yards and two TDs before getting injured early in UNLV's fourth game on Sept. 20.
Picks
Oklahoma -5 at TCU. I made OU an 8.5-point favorite for its trip to Fort Worth. The Sooners have had two weeks to prep for the Horned Frogs, who are unbeaten against a cupcake schedule so far. Oklahoma has won all four of its games by double-digit margins, going 2-0 against the spread in a pair of road chalk situations.
Stanford -2 at Notre Dame. I made Stanford a 6-point favorite and love seeing this number south of 3. The Cardinal have the nation's top-ranked defense, and while Notre Dame is undefeated, it has played absolutely nobody of note. Syracuse, with its 2-2 ledger, is the Fighting Irish's only foe that doesn't have a losing record. After handing USC a gift win in Week 2, David Shaw's team has zero room for error, and there's no reason to think it won't perform well in South Bend.
