When met by the press just before conducting his team's pre-season training on Tuesday, Selangor head coach Maniam Pachaiappan denied that the Red Giants are looking to sign Singapore international and Home United winger Faris Ramli.

Earlier this week, newspapers in both Malaysia and Singapore were abuzz with the rumour that the Red Giants are after Faris, despite Maniam earlier having told Goal that he intends to use only four import players in the 2018 season.

"He (Faris) is not in our line-up and we intend to use only four foreigners; Rufino (Segovia), the two Indonesians Ilham (Udin Armaiyn) and Evan (Dimas), and Willian (Pacheco)," said Maniam.

His squad was still missing their foreign players in training, with only the local players attending it.

"The Indonesian boys are still with their national team, Willian has not returned home to Brazil for awhile, so he asked for extra days off. He'll be joining us on December 27 or 28," he remarked.

He also revealed that his team will be playing in a series of friendly matches in Indonesia in January, as part of their pre-season preparations.

"We'll play in one friendly in Malaysia before leaving for Indonesia, where we'll play in three matches.

"We haven't identified the opponents, but it will be from 7 to 17 January. It'll be either in Jakarta or Surabaya," he explained.
