Tour de France 2023 favourites: Betting tips, odds, predictions for cycling Grand Tour race image

Two of the cycling superstars to have dominated the Tour de France in recent years are the favourites to win the 2023 race.

Tadej Pogacar won the best-known event on the cycling calendar in 2020 and 2021, as well as finishing second in 2022.

Jonas Vingegaard beat Pogacar on that occasion, the Dane having finished immediately behind him the previous year.

What are the odds on Pogacar and Vingegaard winning this time around? Who's the favourite? Here are some of the odds.

WorldTeam Jumbo–Visma's Vingegaard slightly shades the betting among the compilers who can separate the two short favourites.

Elsewhere, 2022 Giro d'Italia champion Jai Hindley is considered their nearest competitor by a distance — but the Australian is still long odds to cause an upset.

Tour de France prediction

It is difficult to look beyond Vingegaard retaining his title, if only because he enters the Tour de France in form Enric Mas something Pogacar cannot be judged on because of the fractured wrist that has kept the Slovenian out since Liege-Bastogne-Liege in April.

Vingegaard comfortably won the Criterium du Dauphine at the start of June, having lost to Pogacar at Paris-Nice in March.

The unknown element is whether Pogacar's injury lay-off will give him greater energy and freshness or count against him.

The 26-year-old seems to have been steeled by his setback. He spent more than a month training for the Tour de France on a stationary bike in his kitchen at his Monaco home, which will make for an even better story if he wins.

    Tour de France best bet

With Vingegaard and Pogacar's odds offering little value, a bet on Hindley to finish on the podium at 5/2 is appealingly longer in price.

After finishing eighth in Catalunya in March, the 27-year-old came fourth at the Criterium du Dauphine, where he succeeded in his aim of establishing himself as a contender for the tour.
