Real Madrid may have secured a first La Liga and Champions League double since 1958, but Gareth Bale says they can “get even better”.

The Blancos eased past Juventus 4-1 in Cardiff on Saturday to add a continental crown to a domestic one already stolen away from arch-rivals Barcelona.

Madrid have now conquered Europe three times in the last four seasons, with Zinedine Zidane’s side considered to be one of the finest of this or any other generation.

Bale certainly believes they are a special squad, with there no reason why they cannot establish a dynasty like that of Alfredo Di Stefano and Ferenc Puskas in the 1950s by landing more major titles.

The Wales international told reporters as Madrid celebrated their latest Champions League triumph: “I don’t see why we can’t be in that company. We have won the Champions League three times in four seasons so we have to be in that category.

“All we can keep doing is keep working hard and hopefully there will be more to come.”

He added: “We can get even better. We are still quite young as a whole team and we have a great squad.

Bale committed to Real Madrid

“We haven’t just got a great XI, we have a great squad so if any injuries come along there are other people who can do a job.

“We are strong at the moment. We are very confident and the plan is to win more.”

Bale’s trophy haul in Madrid also includes a Copa del Rey, the Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup, with his record-breaking transfer from Tottenham in 2013 being justified by silverware.
