In a thrilling pre-season friendly, Manchester City faced off against Barcelona at the Camping World Stadium in Orlando, where Jack Grealish emerged as a standout player.
The match, delayed by an electrical storm, saw Grealish don the captain's armband in the second half and put on a display that revealed his determination and resilience.
The 28-year-old had been under the spotlight after expressing his disappointment over missing out on the Euro 2024 squad. His frustration was palpable, but he was ready to prove himself on the field.
From the start, he was aggressive, nearly scoring twice early on. His moment to savour came when Mateo Kovacic's skilful run set him up to fire into the top corner left footed from a tight angle.
An INCREDIBLE run from @mateokovacic8, finished clinically by @JackGrealish 🔥

Manchester City vs. Barcelona: Haaland and O'Reilly impress in pre-season showdown
The match was more than just a showcase for Grealish. Erling Haaland, returning from a restful summer, was also in fine form. Although denied a goal due to a lack of goal-line technology, the Norway superstar's presence was felt throughout the game.
He played a supportive role, notably when he applauded teenage midfielder Nico O'Reilly's first senior goal. O'Reilly, demonstrating poise beyond his years, made a smart run and finished from an exquisite pass by Josko Gvardiol, marking a memorable moment for the youngster.
Manchester City's attack looked promising, with fluid play involving Oscar Bobb and James McAtee, who linked well with Grealish and right-back Rico Lewis.
However, City's defence was less solid, conceding two goals by halftime. Victor Pau and Pablo Torre took advantage of the makeshift centre-back pairing of Gvardiol and Kalvin Phillips. Ruben Dias, John Stones, Nathan Ake and Manuel Akanji are all yet to rejoin Pep Guardiola's squad following their Euro 2024 exploits.
Despite the defensive lapses, City's offensive performance in Orlando was their best of the tour, with players showing they are ready for the upcoming challenges.
