Liverpool keeper Simon Mignolet may have just learned a very lesson – don’t take your eyes off the ball on a free kick.
With the match between Liverpool and Chelsea scoreless in the first half, the Blues earned a free kick just outside the area. Mignolet was setting up his wall when David Luiz stepped up and hit a rocket over the post and in, to give his side a 1-0 lead.
Mignolet didn’t see the shot until it was far too late.

In fairness to the keeper, there was a decent chance he never would have saved it even if he had seen Luiz hit the shot. And it should go down as one heck of a strike from the Chelsea defender — his first goal for the side since 2013.

Still, it will also go down as yet another embarrassing moment in a brutal month of January which Liverpool will be very happy to see end.
