Manchester United are on the brink of securing a major midfield addition, with Manuel Ugarte set to join the Red Devils.
The 23-year-old Uruguayan midfielder, who landed in Manchester last night, is undergoing medical tests today as the final steps of his transfer from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) are being completed.
The deal, which includes a €50 million ($55.7m) fee plus €10 million ($11.1m) in add-ons, marks a significant move for United, who have been chasing Ugarte throughout the summer.
His arrival will bring much-needed energy and tenacity to Erik ten Hag’s midfield. PSG, keen to recoup their investment in Ugarte after a mixed season, has agreed to the transfer, which also includes a 10% sell-on clause.

As Ugarte prepares to don the famous red jersey, Manchester United are also set to part ways with Jadon Sancho and Scott McTominay.
Sancho is likely to move to Chelsea in a sensational swap deal involving Raheem Sterling, while McTominay is closing in on a €30 million ($33.4m) transfer to Napoli.
The negotiations for Ugarte were far from straightforward, with PSG holding firm on their asking price.

However, United’s persistence, coupled with Ugarte’s strong desire to move to Old Trafford, ultimately paid off. With the sale of McTominay easing financial pressures, United were able to meet PSG’s demands and finalize the deal.
Manchester United fans can now look forward to seeing Ugarte in action, as the club gears up for for their upcoming clash against arch-rivals Liverpool this weekend.
