Brentford boss Thomas Frank is confident star striker Ivan Toney will remain at the club for the 2024/25 Premier League season.

Toney returned to Frank's Brentford plans in January 2024 after serving an eight-month ban for breaching Football Association betting rules

However, despite his enduring importance to the Bees, the England international has opted against a contract extension at the club with his current deal expiring at the end of the 2024/25 season.

Previous interest from EPL rivals Arsenal and Chelsea has faded in recent weeks with rumours of two offers arriving from the Saudi Pro League.

Toney is not keen on a move to the Middle East, despite an SPL club being more likely to meet Brentford's £60m ($65m) asking price, but Frank believes the 28-year-old has decided to stay.

"There's been lots of talk about if Ivan will leave the club this summer. So far, he's still a Brentford player", as per an interview with Sky Sports.

"We're getting closer to him remaining as a Brentford player. I'm getting more and more excited by that, as he's a top player.

"I love working with Ivan and we have a great relationship. I think he will be a Brentford player on September 1."

Toney has ended two of Brentford's three EPL seasons under Frank as their top scorer, with 36 top-flight goals, and he will be crucial for them in the months ahead.

Brentford kickoff their EPL season at home to local rivals Crystal Palace on August 18.
