The Swede has netted on 13 occasions in the English top-tier this season, putting him level with Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez and just one behind current leader Diego Costa, who has scored 14 for Chelsea this term.

Ibrahimovic has also registered an additional four cup goals and has been pivotal in the 15-game unbeatean run which Jose Mourinho's men are enjoying.

The former Paris Saint-Germain striker clocked up 50 goals in the calendar year of 2016, which only Lionel Messi could match across the major European leagues, and Arsenal legend Henry has backed Ibrahimovic to continue his goalscoring exploits.

Speaking to Ibrahimovic for Sky Sports, ahead of Sunday's meeting between Manchester United and Liverpool, Henry said: "[You're my pick for] top goalscorer, don't let me down."

Ibrahimovic assured the striker-turned-pundit "he would do his best".

Real Madrid show incredible spirit to break record

Having arrived at Old Trafford in the summer, Ibrahimovic scored 11 goals in his first 16 Premier League appearances for United, bettered only by Ruud van Nistelrooy, who hit 12 in 2001-02, and equalled by Robin van Persie in 2012-13 and Andy Cole in the 1994-95 campaign.

Harry Kane currently holds the Premier League's Golden Boot, having struck 25 goals for Mauricio Pochettino's Tottenham last season.
