Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly in the race to sign Torino's rising star, Samuele Ricci, during the January transfer window.
As Ange Postecoglou’s side continues to impress, it seems Spurs are looking to further strengthen their midfield options with the talented 23-year-old Italian.
Ricci has been in fine form this season, making six starts for Torino, who currently sit fifth in Serie A. His performances haven't gone unnoticed, and now Spurs are keen to get the deal done, though they may have to hold off until the summer.
But, there’s a twist in the tale — Man City might swoop in and make things a little more complicated.

Spurs target rising in Serie A
Spurs have no shortage of central midfielders, but it looks like Postecoglou is eager to add some extra flair. Ricci has been a key figure for Torino, and he’s also been showcasing his skills for Italy, helping them secure wins over France and Israel in the UEFA Nations League.
With his contract set to expire in 2026, Torino may find it hard to hold onto their star midfielder for much longer.
Having never played in European competitions, a move to a bigger club seems likely. Spurs are hoping to be at the front of that queue.
Can Paratici help to seal the deal?
Interestingly, former Spurs sporting director Fabio Paratici may have a role to play behind the scenes. Although he’s no longer officially with the club, rumors suggest he still has connections within the scouting network that could help Spurs land Ricci.
However, Manchester City have also been linked with Ricci as they search for a replacement for Rodri, who’s sidelined for the season with a serious knee injury. Thus, it will be a difficult one for Spurs to get this deal over the line.
