Liverpool will aim to get their Premier League title challenge up and running against Ipswich on the opening day of the 2024/25 season on Saturday, but star striker Mo Salah is also chasing an amazing individual record.
The Reds striker is expected to lead the line against the newly promoted Tractor Boys, who are making their return to the EPL after a 22-year absence.
The game also marks a new era for Liverpool, who will head into competitive action for the first time under Arne Slot. The Dutchman has replaced Jurgen Klopp in the Anfield dugout ahead of the new campaign.
Slot has so far opted to keep faith with the majority of the squad he inherited, with Liverpool yet to make serious moves in the transfer market, and the new head coach will hope that Salah in particular can pick up where he has previously left off.

Salah chasing amazing opening-day record for Liverpool vs. Ipswich
Egyptian Salah heads into the 2024/25 campaign with the chance to set a new benchmark as the player to have scored most goals in the Premier League on the opening matchday of the season.
Currently, Salah shares the record with several other players, having scored eight times since his arrival at the club from Roma in 2017.
His first came on his Premier League debut against Watford at the start of the 2017/18 season, and he has since scored against West Ham, Norwich twice, Leeds (a hat-trick) and Fulham on the first weekend of the season.
The only time he has drawn a blank on the first matchday during his Liverpool career was against Chelsea 12 months ago, although he did register an assist in a 1-1 draw.
If he were to score against Ipswich, he would move on to nine goals and claim the outright Premier League record he currently shares with Premier League icons Alan Shearer, Wayne Rooney and Frank Lampard.
The game on Saturday will also mark his 350th appearance in a Liverpool shirt.
