Watford leapt above Arsenal in the Premier League table by claiming a dramatic 2-1 win over the Gunners on Saturday evening.

Earlier in the day, Manchester United had held Liverpool to an uninspiring 0-0 draw at Anfield to kick off matchday eight of the English top-flight season.

Watford double chance at Chelsea - 21/10

That draw allowed Manchester City to take sole possession of first place as their attack continued to sparkle in a 7-2 hammering of Stoke City.

Goal has your complete guide to the latest set of fixtures, including the updated table.

Liverpool hosted Manchester United at 12:30, with chances few and far between in the 0-0 draw. David de Gea made the best save of the match to deny Joel Matip from close range.

The rest of England's Champions League clubs are also in action on Saturday due to the upcoming week of European fixtures.

Kevin De Bruyne starred and six different players scored in Manchester City's 7-2 thrashing of Stoke City, which keeps them top of the league for another weekend.

Things were not nearly as good for Chelsea, who were stunned by a resurgent Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park and lost 2-1 - the Eagles' first win and first goals of the season.

Tottenham did not convince much more at Wembley but Christian Eriksen's sole goal was enough to see them defeat struggling Bournemouth.

Swansea City pushed themsleves up the table with a 2-0 win over Huddersfield Town and Burnley denied West Ham three points with a late Chris Wood equaliser to secure a 1-1 draw.

At 17:30, Watford claimed a last-gasp 2-1 victory over Arsenal thanks to Tom Cleverley's 92nd-minute winner.

There was more late drama on Sunday, with Wayne Rooney cancelling out Anthony Knockaert's 82nd-minute opener to deny Brighton a win over struggling Everton and Manolo Gabbiadini's double rescuing a point for Southampton against Newcastle United.

Leicester City saved a point against West Brom on Monday night thanks to Riyad Mahrez's 80th-minute equaliser.

Harry Kane had his scoring boots on once again, finding the target twice as Tottenham thrashed Huddersfield Town 4-0 in the Saturday lunchtime game. Ben Davies and Moussa Sissoko also netted for Spurs.

Five 15:00 fixtures then followed, with Manchester United also winning 4-0 thanks to two Marouane Fellaini goals against Crystal Palace. Juan Mata and Romelu Lukaku were also on the scoresheet.

High-flying Watford held West Brom to a 2-2 draw away from home thanks to Richarlison's 95th-minute equaliser but there was less drama at Bournemouth, who drew 0-0 with Leicester City.

West Ham recorded a much-needed 1-0 win at home against Swansea City and Stoke City were 2-1 victors over Southampton.

In the Saturday evening kick-off, Kevin De Bruyne's precise strike from 20 yards ensured Manchester City's fine performance at Chelsea was rewarded with three points.

On Sunday, Arsenal climbed into the top five with a 2-0 home victory against Brighton.

Everton's early-season woes continued as they were downed by Burnley in a north-west match-up before the action closed with Rafa Benitez holding his former employers to a point, as Newcastle United drew 1-1 with Liverpool.
