Liverpool striker Sadio Mane has posted his best-ever Premier League season as he matched Luis Suarez's record in opening the scoring against Everton.

The former Southampton man has been in fine form since moving to Anfield at the start of the current campaign, despite his absence during the African Cup of Nations with Senegal.

Liverpool offer tributes to Coleman

After hitting a fine strike after just eight minutes on Saturday, he has already marked a personal best in the English top-flight with eight games to spare.

Mane has now been involved in a total of 18 goals for Liverpool in the Premier League, a figure he had never previously reached in his two terms with the Saints.

That record includes 13 goals and five assists, making him the Reds' top goalscorer ahead of Roberto Firmino, who has netted 10 in all competitions.

Furthermore, his goal against the Toffees means that the Senegal international has scored in both Merseyside derbies in 2016-17.

He is the first man to do so since Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge, who both managed the feat in 2013-14.
