Manchester United's injury woes from last season seem to be lingering on, as they've faced additional setbacks during their 2024/25 preseason tour in the United States.

They suffered the most injuries in the 2023/24 Premier League season, with 45 separate incidents. Throughout the season, 21 different United players were sidelined, totalling 1,620 days missed.

During parts of the campaign, Erik ten Hag's side had an entire starting XI unavailable and were forced to start Casemiro at centre-back. To help with defensive coverage, United signed Leny Yoro from Lille for £52 million ($66m) last month - only for him to suffer a fractured metatarsal and be sidelined for three months.

This leaves United again searching for a centre-back to partner Lisandro Martinez, who also has a poor injury record.

Man United launch joint bid for De Ligt and Mazraoui

First reported by The Athletic, United have submitted a joint offer to sign Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich.

That opening bid has been rejected as the Bundesliga giants want a higher fee, however, talks are ongoing.

It's also been widely reported that personal terms have already been agreed with the pair and five-year contracts are on the table.

Both of these players have been wanted by United throughout the summer with De Ligt reportedly an option regardless of the injury to Yoro as Ten Hag craves squad depth in that area.

Mazraoui's signature is dependent on the sale of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who is being linked with a move to West Ham as the Englishman would like a return to London.
