Manchester United are reportedly eyeing Chelsea's Ben Chilwell as their top target for the upcoming January transfer window. Yes, you heard that right — Chilwell, Chelsea’s sidelined left-back, could be wearing the red of United soon.
Man United’s left-back problems have been a growing concern this season. With Luke Shaw still battling injury and Tyrell Malacia yet to make an appearance since the 2022-23 season, Erik ten Hag's squad has been left vulnerable on the left flank. Diogo Dalot has been filling in, but it’s clear the team needs a natural fit for the position.

Is Chilwell the solution to United's left-back woes?
United’s struggles at left-back have left the club with no choice but to scout for options, and it seems Ben Chilwell has topped their list.
According to reports (via TEAMtalk), the England international, who has been left out of Chelsea’s Premier League and Conference League squads, is on the radar of multiple clubs, including Atletico Madrid and Juventus. However, it’s United who have reportedly shown "concrete interest" in securing his services.
With Shaw’s fitness still uncertain and Malacia's return date up in the air, a January move for Chilwell could provide the Red Devils with the cover they desperately need.
Let’s face it, relying on Shaw’s return is like betting on a horse with a limp — it’s risky. Chilwell, on the other hand, is a proven Premier League player, having clocked up 169 appearances, 12 goals, and 18 assists in the competition.
While Chilwell has not found favor with Chelsea’s current boss, Enzo Maresca, who only gave him 45 minutes in a recent EFL Cup clash, the left-back has experience at the highest level and could slot right into United’s squad.
A smart mid-season loan deal could be on the cards, and it could well be a win-win for both clubs.
