Manchester United are hoping to secure a contact extension for Amad Diallo by the start of 2025.

The Red Devils are prioritising a new deal for the Ivory Coast international following a strong start to the Premier League season.

The 22-year-old has spent spells out on loan with Sunderland and Rangers since joining United from Atalanta in 2020 with his first-team place unclear.

Erik ten Hag has given him a greater chance in the opening weeks of the 2024/25 campaign and he scored in the 2-1 EPL loss at Brighton & Hove Albion before the international break.

With ten Hag still looking to find the right balance in his attack, Diallo's form gives him a positive problem, and the club will now look to start talks with his representatives.

Amad Diallo's Manchester United contract date, expiry options

As per reports from the Manchester Evening News, United have two options open, as they look to retain Diallo beyond his current deal which expires at the end of the season.

UEFA rules state he can open talks with non-English teams from the start of January, but United are hoping to have a resolution in place by then, or at least before the end of January.

His current deal has an option to be extended until 2026, which United will activate, if they do not convince him on a longer term agreement.

The objective for United is to tie Diallo to a contract until 2028, but they will trigger the 2026 clause in either case, as the club looks to protect themselves from a free transfer exit.
