Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister could miss Argentina's 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Chile on September 5 due to injury.
Mac Allister has played a key role in Arne Slot's impressive start to life on Merseyside with 90 minutes completed in their opening three Premier League games of the season.
The 25-year-old signed off for the international break with a superb showing in Slot's midfield as the Reds sealed a 3-0 EPL win at Manchester United last weekend.

However, despite the positivity at club level, his participation for Argentina in the coming days is in doubt, as they take on Chile in Buenos Aires and head to Colombia five days later.
Argentina boss Lionel Scaloni confirmed Mac Allister is carrying an injury and he could miss out on the first game.
"Alexis didn’t train because he was overloaded and in pain", Scaloni told TyC Sports.
"It always happens to us, they come out to do their part. We’ll wait and see how he responds today. It doesn’t change our way of playing much because we stay the same, but he gives us a lot, set-pieces etc."
Argentina will be without talismanic captain Lionel Messi for both games as the Inter Miami star recovers from an ankle injury and the blow of potentially missing Mac Allister is a setback for Scaloni.
The former Brighton & Hove Albion playmaker started five of Argentina's six games on route to defending their Copa America title earlier this summer.
