According to a report from Italian outlet Tuttosport, Premier League sides Newcastle and Liverpool are among the clubs interested in Spain Under-21 defender Dean Huijsen but Juventus' €30 million (£25.3m, $32.5m) asking price could be a stumbling block.

Earlier this month, it was heavily reported that Huijsen has agreed to join PSG on a contract until 2029. The Parisians initially offered €20 million ($21.7m), but Juventus deemed the offered too low, which has apparently left the door open for Newcastle and Liverpool to make an enquiry and enter the fray.

Huijsen, who rose through the ranks of Juventus' youth academy and made 70 appearances for their junior teams, only managed a single first-team appearance for the Old Lady last season before securing a loan move to Roma.

Since then, the promising defender has thrived in senior football. During his loan spell with Roma, Huijsen featured in 26 matches, netting two goals and providing two assists, showcasing his ball-playing talents and versatility.

Liverpool in the market for a new centre-back signing

The Merseysiders are kicking off a new era under Arne Slot after Jurgen Klopp's departure at the end of the last season.

Following Joel Matip's departure in the summer, Slot could do with adding another centre-back to his squad, the Reds have been linked with several defenders, including Euro 2024 England star Marc Guehi, as Slot looks to bolster his ranks.

With Virgil van Dijk well into his thirties, a young defender like Huijsen could significantly help the Reds in the upcoming campaign. The 19-year-old Spaniard has a bright future ahead of him and could be a great addition to the Reds, but they will have to fend off competition from Dortmund, Leverkusen, Leipzig, and Stuttgart, who are also keeping a close eye on the defender's situation.
